ContempraDance Theatre blends the most entertaining, cutting edge choreography with the finest dancers, musicians, actors and artists. The Theatre was founded in Florida in 1993 by Artistic Director and Choreographer, Gail Vartanian. The Theatre has performed locally, nationally and internationally. The Theatre’s repertoire is an electrifying and eclectic blend of modern, jazz, ballet, hip hop and comedy including “Hanger” and “Philly Nutt”. Audiences of all ages are mesmerized by the artistry, originality and explosiveness the Theatre exudes.

ContempraDance Theatre has performed at a variety of galas benefiting the American Red Cross, The Muscular Dystrophy Association and the Palm Beach Aids Foundation and others. The Theatre presented dance works for fashion designers Ann Klein and Cartier and performed at a “kick off party” for the Miami Dolphins in Miami, Florida. The Company was also invited to perform for foreign dignitaries and former President George Bush Sr.

The Theatre has over twenty repertoire pieces ranging from classical modern dance to post-modern multi-media works. The Company’s original, hilarious holiday dance spoof, "Philly-Nutt-Crak-Up" combining hip hop, jazz, modern, ballet and comedy. Due to the overwhelming response, the Company premiered another holiday dance spoof, "Twas the Nite the SugaPlum Crake-ed" with rave reviews. In April 2006, the Company received a grant from the Pennsylvania Council of the Arts premiering a multi-media dance work, "Intersect" involving live original music, video art, dancers and imaginative lighting and set designs. The Theatre recently received another grant for a new project, “TimeDance” in April 2007. Ms. Vartanian's choreography has been successfully reviewed in Florida and Philadelphia and described as being, "Breathtakingly Flawless," "Powerful and Bold," "Vartanian's brilliant choreography shines," "A vibrant addition to the area's dance scene."

Residency activities include master classes, lecture/demonstrations, open rehearsals, pre and post performance discussions and choreographic ensemble workshops.
